Spring Poetry Workshop

Westminster College continues to offer a small poetry class (taught by Miriam Bird Greenberg) open to both students and members of the Salt Lake community. The course meets at 4:30–7:20 p.m. on the following Mondays during Spring 2021:

  • Jan. 11, 25
  • Feb. 1, 8, 15, 22
  • March 1, 15, 22, 29
  • April 5, 12, 19, 26

To be considered for this free course, please submit three poems in one document with contact information (name, phone, email, address) by Oct. 15. Click "Submit" below and look for the portal labeled "Free Spring 2021 Poetry Workshop." Participants will be notified by Dec. 1.

Miriam Bird Greenberg is a poet and occasional essayist with a fieldwork-derived practice. The author of two chapbooks and In the Volcano’s Mouth, winner of the 2015 Agnes Lynch Starrett Prize, she's at work on a hybrid-genre manuscript about the economic migrants and asylum seekers of Hong Kong's Chungking Mansions. She's held fellowships from the NEA, the Poetry Foundation, and the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center, and has taught poetry and poetics at Stanford University as a Wallace Stegner Fellow and at the National University of Singapore. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, where for many years she collaboratively developed site-specific performances for very small audiences. Her book The Other World was designed in collaboration with master printer Keith Graham, and published by the Center for Book Arts in October 2019.

Anne Newman Sutton Weeks Poetry Series

Free poetry readings begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be hosted on Westminster's YouTube Channel. Links will be provided on this page closer to the events.
